These mythical beings were made from rays ( most likely Shovelnose ray) dried and modified to look like beings.
Mostly sold as tourist attractions at some stage, which the practice dates back to the 16th century.
I’m afraid I don’t know the age of this one. It looks fantastic in this curio box and ready for its forever home.
